Band name and album title: Icy Veins with Ghosts of Yesterday
Genre: Atmospheric Melodic Black Metal
Release date and label: The album was self-released on May 21, 2023.
Other band releases: After a demo they released this album and released two singles from it.
How did I get to know the band: Again, Metal Devastation Radio sent me the songs to discuss them for you. So let's have a listen.
What do I think of the disc: Not bad so far, here and there it even got a bit too melodic for me. The vocals are okay, you can listen to the drums and guitars, but the use of synths bothers me a bit. It sometimes sounds a bit too much like electro pop from the 80s, but then again like a harmoniously modulated piano. All in all it's pretty melancholic Black Metal, but lacks the spark that can awaken that melancholy, that depression in the listener.
Conclusion: If you like your black metal more melodically with keyboard or synth, you can definitely check it out. fullmetalmayhem

Short Bio: Born from the ashes of the late 90’s progressive death metal band Ba’alzamon, Eisige Venen began in 2020 as a one-man metal project founded by Guitarist and Keyboardist Marc Williams (ex-B’alzamon, Fallen Empire, Nightsphere, Frostcrown). Marc released two demos and two singles before enlisting former Ba’alzamon frontman Curtis Fitzpatrick to fulfill vocal duties in early 2023. Shortly thereafter, guitarist, bassist, programmer Christopher Brandon (ex-Dirge, Severed Faith, Toilsome, Truth Be Told, Ashes in the Fall) joined to fill out the lower end of the sonic spectrum on bass guitar. Averse to the application of definitive labels, Eisige Venen offers a unique blend of atmospheric black metal rife with tremolo picking, but incorporates synthesizers reminiscent of Peter Tagtgren’s PAIN. Eisige Venen have been compared to Ellende, Harakiri for the Sky, Rotting Christ, and Unreqvited, however, they are unique in their own right.
