This trio hails from Ashville, North Carolina and made their debut last year with the self-released "Marauder". Apparently, OBLIVION THRONE was able to make a good name for themselves in their home country and the guys were already allowed to give various concerts. Among other things as support for AT WAR and together with THE BLACK MORIAH.

With "Voidgazer" an attempt is now being made to further increase awareness. That should work to some extent, because the songs on this EP prove to be intoxicating right away and also immediately reveal a lot of passion and joy in playing. But also an experienced playing technique, because the style of the three guys, which can be settled somewhere in the border area between speed, heavy and thrash metal, seems well thought out, structured and extremely appealing.

Not only are the tracks a good distance away from chaos or junk, OBLIVION THRONE also knows how to create atmosphere. It's mostly quite dark, so to place the band in the Black Metal corner would be an exaggeration. Fans of blackened Heavy Metal, which is presented at a proper tempo, should still be happy with the disc, because overall "Voidgazer" not only comes out of the speakers in a relaxed, but also quite mature way.

It's relatively difficult to get an idea of OBLIVION THRONE's competence with only three tracks and the successful intro 'Honorable Death', but the 20 minutes at least do exactly what the strongest song of the three guys promises: ' Lust For Steel'! POWERMETAL
