The Zaburon formation from Bergamo returns after eighteen years with this new album entitled Post Fata Resurgo keeping the tricolor death metal flag high.

An important theme is enclosed in the ten tracks of this Post Fata Resurgo , a Latin term that indicates rebirth after death and which follows the previous Sic Bellum Incipitof 2003. The main theme is the end of humanity, caused by man himself, who however sees a glimmer of life when nature regains its control over the world. How did the catastrophe happen? Human avarice and greed have led to the wars that have inevitably destroyed the world we know. But as clearly represented in the cover image, the rebirth of nature also takes place in the midst of the rubble of civilization. There is also room for a text dedicated to the soldiers who are fighting in Ukraine today, from both factions, a sign of the group's particular attention to the issue.

Let's talk about music because Death Metal is quite reductive as a label and perhaps improper. Surely the basic matrix that brings violence and heaviness comes from American-style death metal, we mention Obituary to contextualize, and which sees its direct expression right in the first track "Voices From The Past". The definition was said to be improper because on songs like "Instinct" and "War" Luca Zanardi 's guitar riffing is much more of the Swedish school, with a more varied drumming and a good use of the double bass by Christian Togni . Swedish influences that blend well with more classically heavy and monochord death parts.

Instead, echoes of thrash metal peep out on "Damnation", almost hard rock in the initial gait which, however, are disassembled by Davide Ricciuti 's nasty and persistent growl , as if to recall the "death'n roll" of Wolverine Blues' Entombed.

“Facing Death”, nomen omen, is a devastating outburst of pure thrash death that alternates the classic Slayer tempo with blast-beat parts seasoned again with a great work of double bass and above all Antonello d'Aguanno's bass . The disc proceeds varied but homogeneous and also gives us two acoustic moments with "Breath Of Betrayer" in the middle to break the rhythm, and the final "No Regrets".

The album was produced by guitarist Zanardi and mixed by Daniel Bergstrand at 33 Studio while mastering was entrusted to Lawrence Mackrory (singer of Darkane) in his Obey Studios, also in Sweden. A little icing on a nice cake that gives us a product that sounds classically death, without being crystal clear and immaculate like modern productions, but that lets you hear real drums played and well amplified guitars. heavymetalwebzine
