Silent Discos; Reemerging Entertainment
Entertainment is evolving with a high-tech twist. First, it was with headsets and a virtual reality, made to play a game, watch a movie, or explore a new environment. Now, it’s wireless headphones and music as silent discos regain popularity.
What is a Silent Disco?
A silent disco or silent rave is an event where people do the exact same thing they do at a rave or a disco, except instead of music filling the air, melodic sound waves shoot straight to their ears through wireless headphones.
A DJ operates a system similar to a standard sound system however, they broadcast music through a radio transmitter to the wireless headphones worn by party-goers.
History
The very first silent disco happened in the 1920’s and was called a “radiophone dance”. People huddled together, plugged the cord to their headphones into a radio and danced.

Ten years later, the British Broadcasting Corporation, better known as BBC News, held a silent disco at Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff, Wales.
In the winter of 2011, the term “silent disco” became a permanent part of our culture when it was added to the Oxford dictionary.
How it Works

Then, the DJ plays music on a closed radio frequency, often with three or more channels to choose from. Viola! There’s a party straight to the ears. Just hit the dance floor and let the music flow.

Some people choose to rent silent disco headphones rather than use the ones provided at the event for several reasons. Some of these reasons are;
