The band, which in 2006 renamed themselves from MARAUDER to ELLIOTT'S KEEP in honor of their singer Glenn Elliott, who died in 2004, and from then on swore allegiance to Doom as a trio, has a reputation of following in the footsteps of SOLITUDE AETURNUS, WHEEL and WHILE HEAVEN WEPT.

There is a personal connection to SOLITUDE AETURNUS anyway, since they were able to release their first two albums, 'In Medias Res' (2008) and 'Sine Qua Non' (2010), via the label of SOLITUDE AETURNUS' John Perez. The cross-connections to WHILE HEAVEN WEPT can at most be expressed in the form of a minimal progressiveness, since ELLIOTT'S KEEP don't play straight forward, but always remain in the realms of traditional Doom and never come closer to Prog Metal. The Death Metal elements woven into earlier works are completely absent these days.

Nevertheless, the seven compositions that make ELLIOTT'S KEEP varied within their field of activity all live from different emotions and above all speeds. In 'Aevum' the trio alternates between an almost galloping rhythm and a slow-moving performance. To the same extent, 'Omnis Pretium' drops all shackles and then also reminds of CATHEDRAL. One or two lines may even be recited in Latin in between, after all the album title comes from the dead language, so to speak. This is also the case in 'Vanguard Of Despair', which works in the classic ELLIOTT'S KEEP manner with pre-bridge and post-bridge, in between singing the title briefly as a chorus in order to occasionally make the post-bridge more evil. A track like 'Every Hour' is not only the most accessible, it only has a heroically sung refrain. The last and longest song, 'White Wolf', at eight minutes, ups the ante, lets the metal rattle and dances bawling with the wolf.

'Vulnerant Omnes' marks Elliot's Keep's fifth studio album and the Dallas, Texas men's first to be released on vinyl. - Streetclip
