Vakaren - Infernum - Reviewed by   OccultBlackMetalZine ! Check it out here at this link: https://occultblackmetalzine.blogspot.com/2022/08/vakareninfernum2022-full-length-review.html

Vakaren  are  an  international  band  with  members  from  Sweden t hat  plays  a  very  atmospheric,  depressive  and  raw  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self   released  2022  album  "Infernum"  which  will  be  released  in  October.

A  very  dark  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  album  while  also  introducing  keyboards  onto  the  recording  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  depressive  black  metal  screams  and  clear  singing  can  also b e  heard  at  times.

The  music  also  has  its  atmospheric  moments  while  blat  beats  can  also  be  heard  briefly  when  the  music  finally  speeds  up.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  raw  aggression  as  well  as  the  vocals  also  going  into  a  more  deep  yet  grim  direction  on  some  tracks  and  most  of  the  recording  also  sticks  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction.  fast  tremolo  picking  can  also  be  heard  on  the  closing  track.

Vakearen  plays  a  style  of  black  metal t hat  is  very  atmospheric,  depressive,  raw  and  mid  tempo  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism  and  Suicide  themes.

In  my  opinion  Vakaren  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric,  depressive  and  raw  black  metal  and  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Of  What  Horrors  Await  us  All"  "Apollyon  Ascendant"  "Spectres  Of  The  Astral  Plane"  and  "NecroHell".  8  out  of  10. - OccultBlackMetalZine

Vakaren began as a raw/depressive Black Metal project from a town not far from Stockholm, Sweden. The project's influences range from Black Metal projects such as Beketh Nexehmu to Post-Punk projects like She Past Away. The band released its first demo in early 2017 which was later followed by the release of the band's first full-length Aeternum, released by Les Fleurs Du Mal Productions. Aeternum paved the way for the band's current sound. Aggressive, violent, and atmospheric are words that have been commonly used to describe Vakaren's sound and visuals.

Ethereal was released on July 28th, 2021 by Witch Cult Records after a slew of EPs and demos released by the band. The band's second full-length drove Vakaren's iconic sound into new soundscapes and incorporated a wide variety of genres into their sound, ranging from Electronic to Death Metal. The underground success of Ethereal gave credence to Vakaren's unique and sometimes progressive approach to a genre saturated with trend followers and copycats.

Infernum marks the end of a trilogy of albums that Vakaren has been working on for nearly 6 years now. The album promises to be the most cohesive representation of Vakaren's sound. From the energetic and violent "Oh What Horrors Await Us All" to the horror driven dirge "The Antediluvian Reign" Vakaren proudly presents itself as an enigmatic and malevolent force in the Black Metal scene.
