On The Loose - Midnight - Reviewed By Dr. Rainer Kerber ! Check it out here at this link: https://keep-on-rocking.com/2022/04/10/on-the-loose-midnight/
On the Loose are obviously the brainchild of guitarist and bassist Marco Marouco. He plays in three different bands. But then came Covid-19. And thus also deep cuts in the musician's life. Concerts were no longer possible. So the musician decided to produce HIS album. Originally intended as an instrumental album with orchestral support. But then he decided to ask his friend Flavio Lino to take over the vocal part. In addition, drummer João Pedro Ventura was added. And with Rick Thor, another friend writes the lyrics. The spring-day-and-night equinox was chosen as the release date for "Midnight".
Musically, a mixture of Candlemass and Iron Maiden awaits you
That's how I read in the email. And I think to myself, what an interesting mixture. But how does such a thing work? I ask myself. Already the title song "Midnight" provides the answer. You actually hear epic doom in the style of the Swedish genre pioneers. But then you think you hear Bruce Dickinson as a guest singer. But no, these are really On the Loose with singer Flávio Lino. And this also masters the high notes playfully. The master himself throws out a huge guitar solo. Doom and Maiden go together wonderfully. This impressive melange continues with "Deceiver" and "Desire". There is also a pinch of Black Sabbath (including "Path"). With "Lust" the Spaniards approach the Funeral Doom realms. The highlight is probably the almost ten-minute epic "Dreamer". At the beginning you hear crows, before all the doom primal force spills over the listener. In addition to the lower-tuned guitars, which can be heard on all songs, epic choruses provide goosebumps. The finale is the "On The Loose", named after the name of the band project.
On the Loose keep the flag of the Epic Doom high up. None of the songs is shorter than five and a half minutes. So you can enjoy this great moment of epic doom for a good three quarters of an hour despite the only seven songs. Actually, the pandemic is an unpleasant evil at this time. But it's nice to hear that this also has positive side effects. Like .B this creativity boost and thus a great album. - Dr. Rainer Kerber
Release Date: March 20th, 2022
FFO: Candlemass, Sorcerer, Crypt Sermon
With the pandemic no music was allowed on stages so after some personal decisions I had time to do MY album.
I also play in 3 bands: Extreme Unction, Els Focs Negres and Perpetrator, also played with heavy metal maniacs SABATAN and satanic speed metalers OMISSION from Spain did the solos for 3 DECAYED albums and was a live session guitar player for FILII NIGRANTIUM INFERNALIUM.
I wanted to do an instrumental album with an orchestra, all the music that you will listen was supposed to be instrumental, but after some months waiting for the orchestrations, from 3 different guys I decided to ask my friend Lino who also sings in a tribute Iron Maiden band Iron Beast and also with the UK based band AIRFORCE to sing in the album.
The album will be released on March 20, 2022, the next equinox with or without a label. Because I want that date and that´s it, this is a one-man project but if there is help from the public this might be a live band. I invited João Ventura from THE LIMIT / Dawnrider to play the drums and asked my friend Rick Thor to write some wonderful lyrics, all the artwork photos taken by me.
Musically expect a mix of Candlemass and Iron Maiden , about the lyrics, are all small little stories each has a concept that leads to a deadly sin. The album has 7 songs 7 deadly sins
Vocals: Flávio Lino
Drums: João Pedro Ventura
Guitars/Bass: Marco Marouco
