The show must go on… until it can’t possibly go on anymore.
Robb Flynn, three days into a lung infection that had him suffering from fits of extreme coughing, was forced to prematurely end Machine Head’s set in Pittsburgh last night after his throat gave out and he simply couldn’t continue.
Flynn posted a video on Facebook directly after the gig explaining the situation and apologizing to fans, and the band later announced that tonight’s show in Cleveland would be postponed. The status of any shows beyond Cleveland isn’t clear, but the band’s statement did say an effort would be made to reschedule any affected gigs on the back-end of the tour.
Here’s the band’s statement, followed by Flynn’s video:
“Tonight’s show in Cleveland has been postponed due to a severe lung infection that shut down Robb’s throat mid-show last night in Pittsburgh. Robb is going to a throat specialist today to find out the status of the infection, and what, if any other shows will be affected. Promoters and agents are looking into all options to reschedule the date towards the end of the tour, or to a later date, we will keep you posted.”
Get well soon, Robb! The road is the worst place imaginable to be sick. Hope you feel better.
