"Poropetra was a Finnish folk metal/folk rock band during the years 2002-2015. They had their core on Baltic Finnic traditional music, in ancient string instrument kantele, but they took bravely influences also from world music, heavy metal, progressive music and even from blues and punk! The band's leader Juha Jyrkäs is also known as a lyric writer of folk metal band Korpiklaani. He has also created a notable solo career being an electric kantele pioneer and well known speculative fiction writer in Finland.
A compilation album Vahvaa verta (Mouraisut 2003-2013) will represent the bands whole musical career. It contains the album Sinihirwi (2007), Poropetra MCD (2004) and four previously unreleased songs. The album is published by Italian label Earth And Sky Productions. The official release date was 6.12.2021.
”I'm happy that our early work is now available as it deserves to be for the international audience. We have a lot's of fans who have waited for this. The band's story will have an honourable end”, Jyrkäs thinks."
