With "DYSTOPIA", ROYAL HUNT are doing quite well. In the best Power Metal manner, filigree, playful riffs and keyboard sequences are mixed together to form a very harmonious and lovely melody. With ROYAL HUNT I particularly notice the singer's organ in a very beneficial way. Here you don't completely fall into these fairy-like spheres, but consistently deliver snappy and lively songs that encourage you to bang along, but still shine with their impressive structure and attention to detail. Failures are not to be found, instead there is game-technically appealing, robust and high-quality food for the entire season, packed in an official broadside for the listener. I would like to pay special attention to the catchy title "BURN" and track "THE EYE OF OBLIVION" Clues. With "I USED TO WALK ALONE" a ballad is also immortalized on the disc, which purrs out of the speakers in a pleasantly kitsch-free and sober manner, so that I don't have to chalk the disc with any overly serious auditory canal-sticking properties.
Nevertheless, you go down to business with a lot of feeling and a sense of harmony, and you have to give ROYAL HUNT a high level of technical ability across the board. So this album can be recommended without reservation for all friends of the genre. ROYAL HUNT kindle a firework of ingenious guitar melodies and chants, which is why you just can't get the individual songs out of your head. Other grenades are "HOUND OF THE DAMNED" or "BLACK BUTTERFLIES", all of which shine with great vocals, great melodies and extremely catchy guitar leads. As expected, the production is fantastic with a clear, powerful sound, so I can only congratulate it. Here we are dealing with a very strong album that every fan of this style will be completely enthusiastic about. - Kobzr
