From The Ruins come from Nevada, a thrash metal band formed in 2015 and arrived in June 2020 to cross the finish line of the first album, with this "Into chaos", featuring pleasant post-apocalyptic artwork and consisting of 6 tracks for about 30 minutes of duration. The pieces, which is not so common for thrash, therefore have an average duration that is not exactly short, which can often be a double-edged sword; actually, in the case of the pieces of this EP, perhaps a few scissors here and there would have helped to make the various compositions more streamlined, so as to present them in a more usable way. The thrash of From The Ruins, in fact, is not exactly immediate, nor does it have a simple approach; there is a great deal of technique underneath, so much so that they can be compared to that "technical thrash" trend of people like Forbidden, Annihilator & C. Then there is the dirty and hoarse voice of Isaac Wilson, a classic in much of thrash; the approach of the vocalist is quite canonical and obvious and does not present points of interest, especially if you have been listening to this type of music for some decades: it is the usual thrash singer, angry and screaming all his energy from beginning to end, for something already felt and resented myriads of other times, both in better versions, and (to be objective) even much worse. Leaving aside the singer, let's focus on the various musicians. The two guitars do an excellent job, as is necessary in this type of music, acting as protagonists in the sound economy, well supported by the bass (perhaps a little too sacrificed in the background by the recording) and by the excellent drummer, which always imposes sparkling rhythms with a great work on the double-box. Among the six pieces, there are no fillers or style drops, on the contrary, listening is pleasant, especially if you are used to such sounds. From The Ruins do not invent anything, nor do they play something that they have not already done before them in many other bands, nevertheless they do it well and this "Into chaos" definitely deserves the sufficiency. The band has excellent qualities, if the various musicians can improve a few small details, perhaps with a different singer who does not just scream all the time, I'm sure they can do even better than that! nor do they play something that they have not already done before them in many other bands, nevertheless they do it well and this "Into chaos" definitely deserves the sufficiency.
