Keep your swords stuck, these Norwegians just want to have fun!

Watch out, satire! The self-proclaimed "cultist of cultist cult bands" does not make it easy for the listener at first contact. After the first listening impression, everything seems to be as usual, but one only realizes that WAIL is undoubtedly extremely talented musicians who leave a very positive impression with "Civilization Maximus".
But that doesn't seem to really interest this quintet. The promo letter as well as various comments on the formation's website rather show that WAIL takes neither the scene itself nor the music itself really seriously. It remains to be seen whether this will make friends everywhere. But since the band doesn’t take themselves to the full, the satirical-ironic approach is forgiven them, because after all, as a metal fan of WAIL you not only feel ripped off, but - if you can do something with this kind of humor can - entertain well.

That definitely applies to the songs, because the musicians, who include the two former FATAL IMPACT colleagues Thor B. Gundersen (guit.) And Anders Nesset (bass), don't leave any doubts about their craftsmanship for a second . Just as little about the fact that they graduated from the "old school" and especially the NWoBHM (in the main subject, so to speak) with honors. So it shouldn't come as a surprise that "Civilization Maximus" came out of the boxes with a proper MAIDEN list from the start. This is not only evident through the tasteful guitar work by Andres and his colleague Kim-Ruben Sletten, beyond any doubt, but "The Singer" (!) Also lets his vocal cords sound like the young Bruce Dickinson.

So far, so good, but unfortunately a certain showmanship cannot be denied in his performance either. Now and then Joakim Jøreng, as the boy is called in middle-class life, torments himself literally in high altitude regions that don't really contribute to a harmonious appearance of the respective song. Since his lecture also fits the tongue-in-cheek lyrics ('Overwhelmed'), the exaggerated manner of presentation should also be part of the satire image chosen by the band.

So it is quite possible that WAIL will be able to draw attention to itself especially in the fan base of relevant formations such as NANOWAR OF STEEL. However, since the band knows how to provide high-quality metal food, contemporaries who are not invariably interested in "Gaudi" and generally not immediately drawn to their swords should not concern themselves with this album when satirical swipes at metal.

Satire. A word that lost it's weight the day the world became so obscure that yesterday's satirical content became the news of the day. It’s time to step up the game.

Enter Wail

The cultiest of cultist cult bands, a Norwegian heavy metal quintet best known as preachers of the 'apocalypse of the civilized world' as well as being observed claiming responsibility for catastrophes such as global warming, epidemics and commercial radio. They seem to be using their mesmerizing heavy metal music to lure young and old into their cultist organization.

A spokesman of the group has been quoted with the following comment regarding the choice of musical direction: "I’m intelligent. Some people would say I’m very, very, very intelligent. According to my research, heavy metal is the most commercially available, sexy and danceable genre out there. It was quite obvious really".

The band has been nurtured, cultivated and refined to be able to write, perform and seduce on a level that few can assert to. This under close observation of the terrifying and quite flamboyant front man that goes under the name «The Singer».

Wail has been getting recognition as a hard working live band on both festival and club scenes, and the response is usually in the vein of 'International standard' and 'who or what the hell are these people?'. The group prefer not to discuss the latter.

The dust has just settled after their debut album «Resilient» 2018. Produced by Kjartan Hestehaugen and Ronni Le Tekrø (TNT).

The follow up album, produced by Titan Labs studio/Riccardo Daga «Civilization Maximus» features 9 tracks circulating a theme of manipulation/indoctrination as the band ventures deeper into the antagonistic rabbit hole.

Wail has been getting recognition as a hard working live band on both festival and club scenes, and the response is usually in the vein of 'International standard' and 'who or what the hell are these people?'. The group prefer not to discuss the latter. Get ready to rejoice in salvation, tribalism and an oblique glance at extremism.
