Today’s review is of the 2 singles of American Symphonic Black Metal band Empyrean Fire’s upcoming debut album “Deliverance”.
The first single, “Gathering Storm”, has already been released, and offers us a great glimpse of what this band does, while the other single “Corruption” shows us their ability and domination of all aspects of the subgenre. Notably, these songs sound somewhat as Dark Funeral passed into a more glorious and elegant composition in some parts.
This second single varies with tremolo picking, orchestrated magnificence, epic arpeggios and sweet feminine vocals on a part (as well as the other single), but all of these well written parts lack some kind of connection sometimes, and the songs don’t completely flow naturally, but this is a common mistake for beginners that will surely disappear on a second album, letting us gaze with certainty upon the abyssal symphony they are able to display.
On the other hand, “Gathering Storm” seems to be a more straightforward approach to Symphonic Black Metal, and as so it has more connectivity while not losing any freshness. With incredibly filling keyboards and a drum pattern that creates the adequate atmosphere, you may have high hopes for what they may deliver with their debut.
I recommend checking out the first single and to wait for the release to any fan of Symphonic Black Metal that is well done.

Dazzling structural details burrow into the subconscious as the dizzying depth of all the layers present on this release demand another listen. The concept behind Empyrean Fire was ruminated upon for years by front woman, Tricia Myers, after reading Milton's "Paradise Lost" and "Paradise Regained." "Gathering Storm" is the first chapter from the anticipated album, entitled "Deliverance," which is planned for release this Winter. The album is a sinister take on Milton's work, reshaping it with harrowing twists and malevolent revelations, each chapter a battle in the dragon's ascent to gain command over Hell on Earth. Will you bow down in battle, sunken before the spear?
