Asphyxium Zine (formerly Autoeroticasphyxium) emerged in print in 1997, spawned by unwavering passion for underground music. Its goal is to help get exposure for entertainment that’s too left field or cutting edge for mainstream consumption. Asphyxium’s earliest issues supported underground metal, punk, hardcore and alternative rock. The zine went exclusively online in 2015, having gradually expanded into goth, crust, grindcore/goregrind, doom/sludge/stoner rock, horror/occult rock, psychobilly, electronic, ambient, industrial, experimental, synthpop, darkwave and world. The zine has further expanded into performance art, independent radio and podcasts, alt modeling, photography, art, poetry and fiction, the occult, the paranormal and witchcraft. Winston Blakely, Alex Kautz, Frank Garcia, M Teresa Clayton, Alison Stone and Sky Claudette are a few of the artists and writers who have lent their talents. Asphyxium’s worldwide readership includes readers from the U.S., the U.K., Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Netherlands, Italy, France, Germany, Finland, Greece, Korea, Indonesia, Uruguay, Ukraine, Russia and Australia.
