The melody from Maiden, the groove from Pantera and riffs from Megadeth...and all that without any limits and genre rules!?PARADOX COMMUNITY (PC) is a German metal band that combines a wide variety of styles from metal, progressive and rock. The trio does not create a constant boring mixture of all genres but tries to ensure a differentiated and exciting song experience by using different structures and styles for each song. From calm, melodic pieces to pumping metal grooves or a bit of thrash metal, everything is possible within PC. Most of the vocals deserve this name and change from shout to melodic singing or aggressive screaming and back. In terms of style the whole thing is a little progressive, although the band does not sound like "student music” but more like some straight old metal heads. Mirko uses unique riffs for most of the song structure and not only exchangeable parts. Together with drum patterns that complement the riffs but still have own character and ideas the PC sound is created without fitting in one specific genre perfectly. Check out this video! The opening track “We Will Rise” features prominent orchestral parts, big lush backing vocals in the choruses, and two blistering guitar solos. “Now That You’re Sober” and the title track “Daylight into Darkness” feature a less prominent orchestral sound, but substitute heavy riffs from guitarist Josh Carney and bassist Dave Ross, and soaring vocals mixed with brutal screams from vocalist Joe Kiesgen. The album is full of intricate double bass and syncopated rhythmic motives from drummer Tim Diephouse, who brings the rhythm section together in a very grooving, musical way. Carney and Kiesgen recorded an initial demo, titled “Plaguing Words” shortly after teaming up, of which only 300 copies were printed. Later in 2005, the band added Dave Ross (bass) and Tim Diephouse (drums) to the line-up, and they started work on their 2006 album release “A Doubtful Life’s Anthology”. “ADLA” was full of orchestral and power metal inspired songs, with the title track being an eight-part, 25-minute epic that ends the album. The music video will also be available on the same day on the official YouTube channel. "BEHIND THIS DOOR" is a Power Ballad that was actually written a few years ago after a very painful breakup, but it took a while until Chris felt ready to finish the song. He finally recorded "BEHIND THIS DOOR" during the Covid19-lockdown in end of 2020. As its origin suggests, the song is about a hard time after a relationship has ended. The song’s protagonist is facing the fact that the beloved one will not come back and is trying to move on. The phrase "when a door closes, a window opens" comes into the protagonist’s mind, but what is, if the protagonist is (still) loving the one who is behind this door? Although Chris has written the lyrics inspired by his own situation many years ago and is maintaining the vocals for this song, it is important for him to leave it open what gender the protagonist or the beloved one have, so that everyone can put themselves in their shoes. Short bio: Chris Maragoth is a same-titled musical project based out of Germany. After several other projects, Chris Maragoth was founded in February 2017 to pursue his own musical endeavors. Being a guitarist primarily, Chris writes, arranges and records instrumental and vocal parts on his own. Occasionally Chris collaborates with other musicians, but mostly friends and former band mates. The musical style is a fluent transition between several genres of rock and metal music, but can be mostly described as modern rock and melodic metal. Their sound is very heavy at times with times of clean atmosphere, providing the listener with a tasteful and flowing direction of music and lyrical intent. The set included “Escape With Me”, “Black Sabbath”, “Encage” and “Love Thy Enemy” which accurately showcases the outright talent of individual players and how well they play together. The accurate and speedy feet of the drummer Julio Garcia along with the chorded and/or slap style bass lines of Sully provide a strong foundation for the impossibly complex guitar work and semi-clean and clean vocals of Ariel and Danny to navigate. In the middle of the show, Danny Perry even took five minutes to “noodle” on his axe. Noodle? Whatever… This man is a monster! A polished, five minute solo interspersed with Van Halen and Dime is “noodling” most guitarists would aspire to play within any song on stage. That being said, all members have great stage presence and administer bone crushing music that engages and entertains as well, if not better than any band I have seen. Ornimental being one of the two bands I had not had the pleasure of hearing before, definitely gained at least one big fan very quickly! Once again, he goes against the grain in all he does. Michael Fulkerson sings about his wrongful conviction, which makes this album personal to him. Fulkerson was born profound deaf in both ears and has limited hearing. However, he has made immense improvements on Full Metal Pitbull compared to his other works. The famous composer, Beethoven, was completely deaf and he made beautiful classical music. Fulkerson is no different than Beethoven with his own hearing loss and his newest release. Fulkerson is a solo artist, hails from Gothenburg, Nebraska and is 45 years old. Compared to his other works, you can hear and understand the lyrics on this one. He has no influences on this album as his music is different and stands out from the norm, as he goes against the grain. However, his music sounds Industrial Metal at most, hard to say as his music is different and if you like Metal, well, there you go.
