Refinery oil and gas production account for more than 80% of India’s oil and gas production (Department of Oil and Gas, 2015), and refining contributes as much as 90% to India’s oil refining output (Direction to Investigate Petroleum and Natural Gas Exploration & Production Prudential Regulatory Authority, 2016). In addition, the country’s refining sector has become a major employer, contributing to 9% of the country’s GDP, and employing over 78,000 people, including around 4,000 directly involved in hydro-processing of oil and natural gas

RSO oil in India is currently becoming a major source of non-fuel energy due to its growing importance as a fuel substitute to petroleum oil and its advantages over the latter, especially for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
