Description
Five-year-old Khadija Noor from Mianwali had spent much of her childhood struggling with shortness of breath, chest discomfort, and constant tiredness. Simple activities such as playing and running left her exhausted, making it difficult for her to enjoy childhood like other children of her age. Concerned about her health, Khadija’s parents took her for a medical evaluation. After detailed examinations and diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed her with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and Pulmonary Stenosis (PS). The doctor recommended open-heart surgery for total correction. The procedure was important to improve Khadija’s heart function and help prevent further complications. The cost of the surgery was far beyond her family’s financial capacity.
Khadija lives in a small rented house with her parents and four siblings. Her father works as a security guard and earns approximately PKR 30,000 per month. His income is used to cover rent, food, utility bills, and other basic household expenses for the family. Paying for a major heart surgery was not possible on this limited income.
Khadija’s parents reached out to Transparent Hands for support. After reviewing her medical condition and the family’s financial circumstances, her case was registered for treatment.
On July 20, 2026, Khadija was admitted to the Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore. Her open-heart surgery for total correction was successfully performed by Dr. Asim Khan on July 21, 2026. She remained under medical observation and received post-operative care following the procedure. After showing satisfactory improvement, Khadija was discharged in stable condition on July 28, 2026.
Khadija’s father expressed his gratitude as follows:
“Seeing my daughter struggle to breathe and play was very difficult for our family. After the surgery, her life has changed remarkably. I am deeply thankful to you for helping Khadija receive her heart surgery and saving her life.”
Khadija is now continuing her recovery at home under her family’s care. Her parents are hopeful that, as she regains her strength, she will be able to take part in the simple activities she had previously found difficult. Khadija’s family is deeply grateful to you and PCHF for making her life-saving heart surgery possible.
