Frank Palangi - Bring On The Fear EP- Reviewed By Metal Digest! That is the case with Frank Palangi who’s radio friendly contemporary hard rock has been smouldering away in the US and now Palangi is back with his sophomore EP ‘Bring On The Fear’. Palangi is a man who knows the way he wants to sound and that immediately comes through with ‘Bring On…’. This is an EP of strong rhythms, powerful melodies and heartfelt lyrics packaged up within an accessible, warm modern hard rock production that has the ability to sell you this EP on that alone. Palangi has given this that big, commercial American sound that has all the appeal of bands such as Daughtry, 3 Doors Down and Shinedown that even steps into Bon Jovi, Goo Goo Dolls and Hoobastank territory with tracks such as ‘Gone Mad’ and ‘Dead Man’. Furthermore, the closing number ‘Virginia’ may be the best track that Foo Fighters have never written. However, whilst the title track is actually quite strong, it’s ‘live’ quotes of “everyone put your hands in the air” and “sing it” are a little OTT for a studio recording and wouldn’t be missed if they were omitted. ‘Bring On…’ manages to walk a very strong line between hard rock and pop/rock and Palangi orchestrates this beautifully; it may not be every rock and metal fans cup of tea, but it may just be the next big thing. That's the word to define this first album by the Portuguese RAGEFUL,an extraordinary technical and brutal Death Metal album that will leave you open-mouthed. Start with an intro of just a few seconds leading to "Inhuman Greed", the first track. An absolutely amazing Death Metal bulldozer with super fast parts mixed with half-times and heart attack. I do not want to review topic by topic so as not to bore you, although I must highlight three for your excellence: "Slavery Ways", "Clouds Of Fear" and the theme that closes the album, "Portugal The Torch", a plea to the forest fires that occurred a few years ago in those lands and that took the lives of 144 people ahead of them. Reading the lyrics, RAGEFUL moves far from the typical theme of style, focusing on more social themes, giving the album a different air. Musically, imagine a mix between HATE ETERNAL, VADER and some ORIGIN, all with a personal halo and a few acojona tes instrumentalists. Seriously, those guitars are just brutal. Add to all this an incredible production and you have before you a very good brutal Death Metal record with almost surgical instrumentation. One pass. Another point to keep in mind is that it's self-edited, more reasons to get it done. Drones  start  off  the  album  while  stringed  instruments  and  whispers  can  also  be  heard  briefly  before  going  into a   heavier  direction.  Elements  of  sludge  metal  are  also  added  into  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  brutal  sounding  blast  beats  and  grindcore  influences.   Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  distorted  sounding  noises  are  also  added  into  some  parts  of  the  recording.  Death  metal  growls  are  also  utilized  at  times  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.   Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  a  small  amount  of  melody  also  being  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  90's  underground  metal  style  as  well  as  some  tremolo  picking  also  being  added  into  some  of  the  faster  riffing  and  as  the  recording  progresses  small  touches  of  post  metal  can  also  be  heard.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  violence  and  political  situation  in  Greece.   In  my  opinion  Chestcrush  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black,  sludge,  post,  death  metal  and  grindcore  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  duo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Digester"  "Theocracyst"  "Skullcrush"  and  "Vaptizetai  O  Doulos".  8  out  of  10. - A Different Shade Of Black Metal Zine Band: CHESTCRUSH Release title: VDELYGMIA Release date: July 14, 2021 Genre: Blackened Death Metal / Sludge / Grind FFO:  Black Curse, Vermin Womb, Full Of Hell, Primitive Man, Caustic Wound, Body Void, Ulcerate, Amnutseba, Celeste, Resin Tomb Check out the video! The band took a quick turn to be a serious one and the two members started writing material directly for their first release. Then Myrkheim (from Serpesta) joined as a live session guitarist for Myronath. In late spring 2019 Myronath entered the studio and recorded their first full length “Into the Qliphoth”. The album was mixed by Lars Broddesson at Twisting Serpent Studios, and was later mastered by Devo Andersson (ex-Marduk) at Endarker Studio, Sweden. Summer 2019 Myronath signed with Dutch record label Non Serviam Records for one album, and “Into the Qliphoth” was released early September 2019. This was during the band’s very first live performance at the “Mörkaste Småland Festival” in Hultsfred, Sweden – alongside bands such as Gra and Svartidaudi. December 2019 saw Myronath playing live again at the December Darkness festival, alongside Marduk, Avslut and others. Due to personal reasons Lars Broddesson could unfortunately not continue as drummer of Myronath at this point, but without delay the band recruited none other than Fredrik Andersson (ex-Amon Amarth, Netherbird) to replace Lars behind the battery. Myrkheim was by now also a full member of the band, and Myronath started working with new material for the band’s second release. The album was recorded at Endarker Studio autumn 2020 under the hands of Devo Andersson (ex-Marduk).
