Video by Eva Malacchini “El Cason dei Sette Morti” recounts a legend from the fishing stilt houses of the southern lagoon near the island of Pellestrina. Fishing casoni were shelters used by fishermen already at sea and were often guarded by children and/or abandoned dogs. In this tale, seven fishermen take refuge during a storm in one such casone with a corpse hauled from the sea. Mocking the child caretaker, the corpse reanimates and slaughters the entire crew.
