Tennessee Metal Devastation Music Fest 2024, something truly unforgettable happened! During their set, THE RED MOUNTAIN surprised me with an impromptu cover of my old one-man band Brutal Death Fuck’s song “Devil’s Whiskey”. Not only that, but they invited me on stage to sing it with them! 😱🎤 I can’t even express how cool (and shocking) it was! At the time, I was sweating bullets with soundman Richie Brannon, trying to fix some floor monitor issues near the stage. Out of nowhere, I hear Dave Frost, The Red Mountain’s frontman, saying: "We usually don’t do covers, but this one is special, and we’d like to invite Zach up to sing it with us." I froze for a second, thinking, "What the hell are they doing?!" 😂 I rushed up there, and as soon as I heard the first riff, it hit me—they were playing my song! Turns out, they’d been secretly planning and rehearsing it for weeks leading up to the fest. 🤘 This was the first—and so far only—time “Devil’s Whiskey” has been performed live, and I’m beyond honored it happened with such an incredible band. 🙏 Hopefully, we’ll do it again someday!
