One of the best-known voices in rock, Scott Stapp questions the inherent duality of relationships with “What I Deserve,” the next track revealed from Stapp’s forthcoming Napalm Records album, Higher Power, due out March 15, 2024.
After the hard-hitting release of title track “Higher Power” in August, “What I Deserve” is a profoundly insightful, mid-tempo anthem featuring stand-out guitar work by Yiannis Papadopoulos whose contributions are so invaluable, he is listed as a featured artist alongside Stapp.
“We all want back what we give,” says Stapp. ‘What I Deserve’ is about two people understanding who they are individually and coming to a place where they can express exactly what they each want, need, and deserve. The duality in the song is that both sides are expressing the same thing and coming to an understanding of the faults of the other. This song pleads both guilty and innocent with Yiannis’ guitar solo being the voice that articulates a chaotic search for deliverance and the epic release of passionate closure.”
Higher Power follows Stapp’s triumphant 2019 album, The Space Between The Shadows, which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Current Rock Albums chart; #3 on the Billboard Current Hard Music Albums chart; #4 on the Billboard Record Label Independent Current Albums chart; #10 on the Billboard Current Physical Albums chart; and #10 on the Billboard Top Current Albums chart in the US, while landing at #3 on the UK’s official Rock and Metal Chart.
