THE BEAST

Shovel's sonic journey starts as an experiment to bring together the immediacy of heavy, intense riffs and existential screams and the elusiveness of otherworldly sounds and atmospheres. Emerging from the mud of sludge, doom and post metal, Shovel's music travels through the openness and freedom of psychedelic textures to end up crawling in black metal claustrophobia and despair, creating an unconventional and distinct sound. From their very first gig, Shovel created a connection with the vibrant scene of Berlin and already with their 2019 demo, they managed to establish their status in the underground, a demo that was shared on various channels and that became the soundtrack to the showreel of Berlin based director Chirus Guder. That was enough for the band to decide to make the next step and produce a debut album that lived up to the expectation. Their debut was recorded live on tape in Big Snuff Studio (Berlin, Germany) by the producer and engineer Richard Behrens (Kadavar, Samsara Blues Experiment, Odd Couple). The album was mastered in The Atomic Garden Studio (California, USA) by Grammy nominated producer Jack Shirley (Amenra, Deafheaven, Oathbreaker).
