Archgoat and Atheist headline the eighth edition of Atlanta's independent extreme metal festival, featuring 16 bands from the U.S. and Europe
ATLANTA, GA | Mass Destruction Metal Fest returns to Atlanta, Georgia, on November 6 and 7, 2026, bringing two full days of underground and extreme metal to The Garden Club.
Now entering its eighth edition, Mass Destruction has established itself as an important gathering for Atlanta's underground metal community. The independently operated festival continues its tradition of putting established names alongside newer, obscure, and international acts representing a wide range of extreme metal.
The 2026 edition will feature Finnish black metal veterans Archgoat as Friday night's headliners, while Florida technical death metal pioneers Atheist will close out the festival on Saturday.

With sixteen bands spread across two days, the festival's lineup covers plenty of ground, including old-school death metal, thrash, black metal, atmospheric and experimental extreme metal, and more modern interpretations of the underground.
That diversity is very much part of the Mass Destruction identity. Rather than focusing on a single subgenre, the festival has built its reputation around bringing different corners of the extreme metal community together under one roof.
“From the onset, Mass Destruction has always been about pulling in extreme metal for all our friends to see live. I've traveled all over watching bands and festivals elsewhere, and finally decided Atlanta needed an extreme metal festival of its own for our city to enjoy,” says co-founder Cody Martin .
Mass Destruction was founded in Atlanta in 2017 by Cody Martin and Amos Rifkin. Since its creation, the festival has remained independent while maintaining a focus on supporting underground artists, touring musicians, local bands, and the people working behind the scenes to keep live metal moving.
The eighth edition looks to continue that mission with a lineup that reaches from legendary technical death metal to raw black metal and a whole lot of filthy underground extremity in between.
If you're looking for a weekend of extreme metal that doesn't play it safe or stick to one narrow lane, Atlanta is going to be the place to be this November.
