Trenton, NJ — After 25 years entombed in silence, the crypt doors have burst open. Cult black/death metal act OAK COFFIN rises once more with their long-awaited new album, The Obsidian Ritual , set for release on September 13th, 2025 through Iron, Blood and Death (CD) and Futhark Records (12" LP).

Forged in the shadowy depths of 1994, OAK COFFIN quickly carved their name into the early USBM underground with a sound that fused satanic black metal with the crushing weight of death metal. Channeling an atmosphere of raw oppression, blasphemy, and despair, they left behind a trail of underground infamy before disbanding in 1999. With ties to Open Grave, Helcaraxë, and Krieg , their legacy has quietly haunted the American extreme metal scene ever since.

Now, in 2025, the coffin has cracked open once again. The Obsidian Ritual is both a resurrection and a reinvention — a vicious new chapter in OAK COFFIN’s dark saga. Recorded between 2024–2025 at Christpuncher Studios (Trenton, NJ) and mixed/mastered by Ashk’Ente at Azimuth Mastering , the record captures the band’s ancient spirit while unleashing a sharpened ferocity for modern ears.

Featuring cover art by Alvaro Valverde and layout/design by J. Bowens , The Obsidian Ritual is a searing testament to OAK COFFIN’s unholy vision. Expect suffocating riffs, ritualistic rhythms, and a descent into the obsidian depths of black death metal.
