The Ultimate Revenge - Combat Tour Live: Slayer, Exodus & Venom (1985). The Combat Tour ’85 – The Ultimate Revenge for Disco was a raw, chaotic snapshot of early extreme metal, captured at a moment when the genre was still young, hungry, and completely unpolished. It brought together Venom, Slayer, and Exodus on the same bill (Studio 54, New York City), each of them in a different stage of becoming the monsters they’d later be known as. The whole thing was filmed and recorded in that gritty mid‑80s way where the camera shakes, the audio distorts, and everything feels like it’s happening in a sweaty underground bunker rather than a venue. Slayer were in their Hell Awaits era, still lean and vicious, playing faster than most bands on the planet at the time. Exodus were touring Bonded by Blood, with Paul Baloff in full maniac mode, shouting, pacing, and treating the stage like a battlefield. Venom were the headliners, larger‑than‑life, theatrical, and messy in the exact way that made them legendary. The show wasn’t slick or polished; it was loud, chaotic, and borderline feral, which is exactly why it became such a cult artifact. "The Ultimate Revenge" or "Ultimate Revenge for Disco" as it sometimes was referred to as was the kind of tongue‑in‑cheek attitude metal bands used back then, a way of saying this was the opposite of mainstream, glossy music. It framed the event as a celebration of the new underground rising up, with thrash and proto‑black metal taking over from the old trends. Over the years the footage and audio circulated as VHS tapes, bootlegs, and unofficial CDs, keeping the myth alive decades after the tour ended. #combattour #80smetal #slayer LIKE, SHARE AND SUBSCRIBE!
