What happens when a multiplatinum frontman fires the bandmates who helped build his band — not in a meeting, not over the phone, but by email?
Ben Burnley had just gone sober, after years of addiction. Then he learned his guitarist and bassist had quietly made a $100,000 deal over one of his own songs — behind his back. To him, that changed everything.
So he did the most impersonal thing imaginable. He fired two members of a near-decade-long band in a single email — over one remix of "Blow Me Away."
What followed wasn't just a breakup. It was a legal war over the name itself, so bitter the band sat frozen for years. Everyone wrote them off as finished.
Then, in 2015, the band everyone thought was dead came back with "Dark Before Dawn" — and it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. A decade and a half of misery, split clean down the middle.
How one email nearly ended Breaking Benjamin — the full story is on the channel right now. Go watch it, guys.
