Base Casting Mechanics

Channeling Skill – The player must hold down the skill button to maintain the song. Each second spent channeling generates Resonance Stacks (a hidden counter).
Pulse Frequency – At base level, the gem emits a resonance pulse every 0.8 seconds, with scaling improvements via cast speed or support gems.
Range – The starting radius is modest (12 units), but investment in area-of-effect modifiers can push this to impressive levels.
Cost – Channeling drains mana per second, starting around 8–10 mana at gem level 1, scaling upwards as the gem levels.
Interruption – Taking a heavy hit or releasing the channel resets resonance stacks, meaning positioning and defenses are crucial.
This design introduces a deliberate rhythm: stay in place long enough, and the skill builds momentum. Move too soon, and you lose your buildup.
Resonance Stacks and Their Role
The most fundamental mechanic of Song of the Deep is its Resonance Stack system.
Each second of channeling = +1 Resonance Stack.
Maximum Stacks = 6 at gem level 1, scaling to 12+ at higher levels.
