Guitar World

Rock-country powerhouse @OfficialTimMontana sits down with Guitar World to reveal the exact guitar riffs that completely altered the course of his life. From getting personal, face-to-face lessons from ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, to the exact John Mayer and Blink-182 riffs he used as a "secret weapon" in Butte, Montana back in 2002, Tim doesn't hold anything back. He also shares the terrifying story of what it's really like to look across the stage and see Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell staring into your soul while you try to sing "Rooster," and why elitist guitar snobs are wrong about Kurt Cobain. Stick around until the end for the story about bootleg Nirvana merch and partying with Dave Grohl! 00:31 - Riff 1: "Funk 49" by James Gang 01:25 - Riff 2: "Brown Sugar" by ZZ Top 03:39 - Riff 3: John Mayer & Blink-182 04:21 - Riff 4: "Green River" & "Suzie Q" by CCR 06:33 - Riff 5: "Rooster" by Alice in Chains Subscribe to Guitar World for more exclusive interviews, gear reviews, and performance breakdowns!
