In simple terms, ‘fuzz’ perfectly sums up the sound this guitar effect makes – a thick, buzzy tone that’s a result of heavily clipping the audio signal. It’s a sound made famous by everyone from Jimi Hendrix and Billy Corgan, to St. Vincent, whose inventive textures have earned fuzz a new legion of fans. But with so many fuzz variations on the market, it's natural to be confused about what will work for your sonic needs, let alone work with your budget. For this video, we’ve tested a huge range of wild and wonderful fuzz pedals, ranging from dirt-cheap $29 clones through budget-chomping noise machines closer to $300, and zeroed in on 6 pedals we think should be first on your list. And because this video isn’t sponsored, you know our choices are genuine and unbiased. 🛒 Shop the gear in this video Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi: https://hawk.ly/m/electro-harmonix-big-muff-pi/i/guitarworld-youtube Behringer SF300: https://hawk.ly/m/behringer-sf300-super-fuzz/i/guitarworld-youtube Jim Dunlop Mini Germanium Fuzz Face: https://hawk.ly/m/dunlop-fuzz-face-mini-ffm2-germanium/i/guitarworld-youtube Death by Audio Supersonic Fuzz Gun: https://hawk.ly/m/death-by-audio-supersonic-fuzz-gun/i/guitarworld-youtube Boss Waza Craft FZ-1W: https://hawk.ly/m/boss-fz-1w-waza-craft/i/guitarworld-youtube Zvex Fuzz Factory: https://hawk.ly/m/zvex-fuzz-factory/i/guitarworld-youtube We may earn a commission when purchasing through affiliate links in this description/video. 🎥 Chapters: 00:00 Intro 01:02 What is fuzz? 01:26 How to choose a fuzz pedal 02:32 Best budget - Behringer SF300 05:07 Best vintage - Dunlop Mini Germanium Fuzz Face 08:13 Best experimental - Death By Audio Supersonic Fuzz Gun 11:23 Most durable - Boss Waza Craft FZ-1W 14:48 Best compact - Zvexx Fuzz Factory 18:09 Best overall - Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi 21:52 Alternatives 22:40 Conclusion Read the full Guitar World best overdrive pedals buyer’s guide: https://www.guitarworld.com/gear/best-fuzz-pedals Explore more gear buying advice from Guitar World: https://www.guitarworld.com/buying-guides More at: Guitar World: http://www.guitarworld.com Facebook: https://facebook.com/GuitarWorld Instagram: https://instagram.com/guitarworldmagazine X: https://twitter.com/GuitarWorld TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@guitarworld_official
