In account settings you can set the name you want to use that will show up in chat.
also in account settings the image you use as an account picture is the picture that shows in chat not the profile picture, profiles work like pages work on facebook they are connected to you but now how you are seen if that makes any sense.

to edit and approve followers just click the more tab on your profile page under your cover photo like this image shows.

The Followers module allows Users to follow Profiles they are interested in.
When a user follows a profile they are interested in and that profile writes to their Timeline, then that timeline post will also appear in the timeline feed of the followers home profile.
This also comes in handy when creating events!

How to set up notifications

Go to "account settings" and click "notifications" in the drop down you will be able to select from all things what you would like to get notified for and what not too. You can also choose to have them sent as private notes my personal favorite as it makes it easy to keep up with them. "private notes" is also located in the drop down from your account image in the top right corner.
