Description
Muhammad Mahad, a 7-year-old boy from Muzaffarabad, has been experiencing breathing difficulties and other health problems since birth. Simple activities such as climbing stairs, playing with friends, and taking part in daily activities have become difficult for him. Worried about his condition, Mahad’s parents took him to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After a comprehensive examination, the doctor diagnosed him with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a congenital heart condition characterized by four abnormalities that affect the normal flow of blood through the heart and lungs. To correct these defects, the doctor recommended open-heart surgery for total correction. However, his family was unable to afford the cost of his treatment.
Mahad lives in a modest home with his parents and two siblings. His father has been unemployed for a long time, leaving his mother as the sole breadwinner for the family. She works as a teacher at a private school and earns only PKR 20,000 per month. Her limited income is used to support the entire household, making it difficult for the family to manage the cost of Mahad’s heart surgery. Mahad’s parents reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for help. After listening to their concerns, we promptly registered his case.
On July 22, 2026, Mahad was admitted to the Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore. He received pre-operative care, and his open-heart surgery for total correction was performed by Dr. Asim Khan on July 23, 2026. He remained under medical observation and received the necessary post-operative care following the procedure. He was discharged in stable condition on July 27, 2026.
Mahad’s mother expressed her gratitude as follows:
“It was difficult to see my son struggle with his breathing and we were worried about his future. My income was not enough to pay for his life-saving heart surgery. I am truly thankful to you and PCHF for saving Mahad’s life.”
Mahad is now recovering well at home. He is no longer facing the complications and his quality of life has improved. His family extends their immense gratitude to you and the PCHF for healing heart’s defects with cardiac surgery.
