Description
Ameer Abdullah, a 2-year-old boy from Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, had been struggling with health problems since birth. He frequently experienced shortness of breath and chest discomfort, even during mild physical activity. Simple activities that most children enjoy, such as walking, playing, or moving around, quickly left him exhausted. Determined to find the cause of his symptoms, Ameer's family took him to a local hospital for a medical evaluation. After a thorough examination and the necessary diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed him with a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD). To repair the defect and improve his heart function, the doctor recommended VSD closure through open-heart surgery.
The cost of the surgery was far beyond the family's financial means. Ameer lives in a modest house with his parents and six other family members. His father works as a watchman and earns only PKR 25,000 per month, which is the family's only source of income. His earnings are spent on food, utility bills, children's needs, and other essential household expenses, leaving no savings for costly cardiac treatment. Hoping to give their son a healthier future, Ameer's parents reached out to Transparent Hands. After reviewing his medical reports and assessing the family's financial circumstances, Transparent Hands registered his case.
On June 4, 2026, Ameer was admitted to the Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. His VSD closure surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Asim Khan on June 5, 2026. The surgery repaired the abnormal opening in his heart, helping restore normal blood flow and reduce the strain on his heart and lungs. After receiving post-operative care and careful monitoring, Ameer was discharged in stable condition on June 10, 2026.
Ameer's father shared his gratitude in these words:
"Seeing our son become tired so quickly during daily activities was very difficult for our family. We knew the surgery was necessary, but it was beyond what we could afford. Your generosity made this treatment possible and gave him the opportunity for a healthier future. We will always be grateful for your kindness and support."
Today, Ameer is recovering well and gradually regaining his strength. His family looks forward to seeing him enjoy a healthier childhood filled with activities that were once difficult for him. They extend their heartfelt gratitude to you and the PCHF for making this life-changing heart surgery possible.
