Description
Tafseer Yousaf, a 20-year-old woman from Hafizabad, was suffering from shortness of breath and chest discomfort. Frequent chest infections and episodes of rapid heartbeat further weakened her health, making routine tasks increasingly difficult. As her condition continued to worsen, Tafseer and her family became deeply concerned about her future. To understand the cause of her symptoms, Tafseer visited a local hospital for a comprehensive evaluation. After detailed diagnostic testing, the doctor diagnosed her with Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD), Severe Mitral Regurgitation (MR), and Mild Mitral Stenosis (MS).
These conditions had severely affected the mitral valve, preventing her heart from pumping blood efficiently. To save her life and reduce the risk of further complications, the doctor recommended Mitral Valve (MV) Replacement through open-heart surgery.
The cost of this surgery was far beyond what Tafseer's family could afford. She lives in a rented house with her husband and their young child. Her husband works as a salesman and earns only PKR 30,000 per month. His modest income is used to manage rent, food, utility bills, childcare, and other essential household expenses. Determined to help Tafseer receive the recommended surgery, the family contacted Transparent Hands. Following a careful assessment of her medical records and financial circumstances, her case was registered for treatment.
On June 23, 2026, Tafseer was admitted to the Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. Her Mitral Valve Replacement surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Asim Khan on June 25, 2026. The damaged mitral valve was replaced successfully, enabling her heart to pump blood more effectively. After receiving post-operative care, Tafseer was discharged in satisfactory condition on June 30, 2026.
Tafseer expressed her joy as follows:
"When I was told that I needed open-heart surgery, I felt anxious because my husband could not afford such an expensive treatment. Your generosity made this surgery possible and gave me the opportunity to look forward to a healthier life with my child. I will always remain grateful for your kindness and generosity."
The successful surgery has restored Tafseer's heart function and brought immense relief to her and her family. They extend their heartfelt gratitude to you and the Pakistan Children's Heart Foundation (PCHF). Your generosity has given Tafseer the opportunity to enjoy better health and spend many more happy years with her loved ones.
