Description
Ayesha Bibi, a 5-year-old girl from Dera Ghazi Khan, had been suffering from shortness of breath and palpitations since birth. Her condition intensified to the point that she could no longer walk or play without feeling exhausted. Ayesha was unable to enjoy the cherished moments of her childhood. Concerned, her parents took her to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After a detailed medical examination, the doctor diagnosed Ayesha with Supravalvular Aortic Stenosis (SVAS). To correct this defect, her doctor recommended Supra-Valvular AS Repair. However, the surgical cost was overwhelming for her family.
Ayesha lived with her parents and a sibling at someone else’s home. Her father teaches the Holy Quran to children in the neighborhood and earns a monthly income of just PKR 10,000. They are surviving in extreme poverty and struggle hard to manage their household expenses. With no savings and assets to fall back on, Ayesha’s family reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for help. Recognizing the gravity of her situation, we registered her case.
On June 24, 2025, Ayesha was admitted to the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital. The next day, Dr. Salman Shah performed Ayesha’s life-saving Supra-Valvular AS Repair surgery with great care. She remained under closed observation in the ICU and was discharged in satisfactory condition on June 28, 2025.
Ayesha’s parents expressed their joy as follows:
“We can’t believe that our daughter is saved now. As parents, nothing was more heartbreaking than to see your child suffer from a disease and still be unable to do anything for her. However, after the surgery, we are now happy and relieved. We can’t describe our happiness in words. We are extremely thankful to you and the Pakistan Children's Heart Foundation.”
Ayesha’s life has taken a turn, and she can now have a future filled with opportunities. She can lead a normal and healthy life like other children of her age. You have given her a second chance at life, and her family will always remember the kindness you showed to them.
