Description
Muhammad Munir, a 15-year-old boy from Nowshera, KPK, had spent his life struggling with breathlessness and chest discomfort. Munir couldn’t participate in games or even complete daily tasks without getting exhausted. Even walking short distances would leave him gasping for breath, and his parents watched with growing concern as his condition worsened with time.
Determined to find answers, his parents took him to a local hospital. After a thorough examination and multiple diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed him with a combination of complex heart defects: Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), Right Coronary Cusp (RCC), and severe Aortic Regurgitation (AR). The doctor recommended VSD closure and Aortic Valve (AV) replacement to correct the problem and prevent further complications. However, the cost of this high-risk procedure was far beyond the family’s means.
Munir lives in a small rented home with his parents and five siblings. His father works as a security guard and earns PKR 50,000 per month. While it may seem like a stable income, it barely covers the family’s basic living expenses, school fees, and rent. Affording Munir’s surgery was an impossible challenge. In search of help, Munir’s family reached out to Transparent Hands. Moved by their plea, we registered Munir’s case.
On May 14, 2025, Munir was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore. Dr. Asim Khan successfully performed the VSD closure and AV replacement surgery on May 16, 2025. After receiving post-operative care, Munir was discharged on May 20, 2025, in stable condition.
With hope in their voices, Munir’s parents said:
“Watching our son struggle to breathe and miss out on his childhood was heartbreaking. We couldn’t afford the surgery, and we felt helpless. Your support changed everything. Thank you for saving our child’s life.”
Today, Munir is recovering well. He can now walk without exhaustion and is regaining his confidence.
This change was made possible through your generous donations and the support of PCHF. His family is deeply thankful for the gift of a healthy future.
