Tehmina Bibi, a 31-year-old woman from Mian Channu, was suffering from shortness of breath and persistent chest pain. Simple tasks, like cooking, cleaning, or even caring for her children, grew difficult as she struggled to breathe during mild to moderate activity. Tehmina often felt overwhelmingly fatigued, which left her anxious about what the future might hold for her and her family. Frightened by her worsening condition, Tehmina finally went to a local hospital for help. After performing necessary lab tests, the doctor diagnosed her with Severe Mitral Stenosis, a serious heart condition where the mitral valve becomes narrowed, restricting the blood flow. To prevent life-threatening complications and restore her quality of life, the doctor advised Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR) surgery, a critical heart surgery.
However, the cost of this critical procedure was something Tehmina and her family simply couldn’t afford. She lives in a modest home with her husband and two children. Her husband earns PKR 64,000 per month, which hardly covers their utility bills and daily household expenses. Due to their financial constraints, arranging money for such an expensive surgery was beyond their reach. During this hard time, Tehmina learned about Transparent Hands and reached out with hope. We listened to her story and immediately registered her case so she could receive the much-needed treatment.
On May 21, 2025, Tehmina was admitted to the Evercare Hospital in Lahore. The next day, on May 22, 2025, Dr. Ajmal Hassan performed her Mitral Valve Replacement surgery, successfully repairing her heart and giving her a chance at a healthy life. After proper post-operative care, Tehmina was discharged on May 28, 2025, in stable condition.
