Description
Ramzan Akbar, a 23-year-old resident of Pakpattan, suffered a devastating leg injury in a road accident eight months ago. Rushed to the local hospital emergency ward for immediate treatment, it became clear that his right leg was severely crushed and beyond saving. The only option left was to amputate his leg above the knee level.
Ramzan belongs to a joint family consisting of ten members, and he relies on his brother for financial support. Unfortunately, his brother's monthly income as a laborer amounts to a meager PKR 30,000, making it extremely challenging to cover even the basic household expenses, let alone the cost of an artificial leg. The daunting price of the prosthetic limb seemed insurmountable, casting a shadow of despair over Ramzan's hopes for a better future.
However, it was during this time of uncertainty that Ramzan came across Transparent Hands and learned about their mission. Touched by his story, we committed to raise the necessary funds to provide him with a prosthetic leg. The compassion and generosity of donors shone as a beacon of hope for Ramzan, instilling renewed optimism in his heart.
Thanks to the unwavering support and kindness of donors, Ramzan's leg was successfully fitted with an artificial limb on February 15, 2024, at the Hope Rehabilitation Centre, under the expert supervision of Dr. Khalid Niaz. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Ramzan expressed heartfelt appreciation to Transparent Hands for their invaluable assistance throughout his challenging journey toward recovery.
The provision of a prosthetic leg proved to be a turning point in Ramzan's life. It enabled him to regain his mobility and independence, allowing him to navigate the world with renewed confidence and freedom.
