Description
Meerab Khan, a two-year-old girl from Dera Ismail Khan, whose journey from a world of silence to a symphony of sounds is nothing short of miraculous. Born with hearing impairment, Meerab's future seemed uncertain until a beacon of hope emerged in the form of Transparent Hands.
When Meerab's parents noticed her lack of response to their voices, they rushed her to the local hospital. After undergoing tests, the heartbreaking diagnosis of sensorineural hearing loss was delivered. Desperate to help their daughter, but limited by their meager income, Meerab's parents turned to us upon a relative's recommendation.
With our assistance, Meerab was admitted to Ali Medical Centre, Islamabad, where the highly skilled Dr. Jawad performed cochlear implant surgery on 21-08-2023. With utmost precision and expertise, the doctor successfully implanted the internal component, opening the doors to a world of sound for Meerab.
After just one day in the hospital, Meerab was discharged, filled with anticipation and hope as she embarked on her journey of discovering new words and expressing her emotions. In the following weeks, the external component of the cochlear implant was fixed, and Meerab eagerly participated in speech therapy sessions. With the help of her speech therapist, she began responding to her parents' voices.
The impact of the surgery on Meerab's life was profound. It unearthed a realm of opportunities that had previously remained unexplored, igniting a bright future for this young girl. None of this would have been possible without the generous contributions of kind donors who selflessly paved the way for Meerab's transformation.
