Finnish Blackened Death Metal Act Returns with a Harrowing, Heavy-Hitting Statement

From the frozen soil of Finland’s underground metal scene, UNREDEEMER returns with a blistering new single, “SHAME,” released July 18th, 2025 . Following their acclaimed 2022 full-length Word Become Flesh , this latest track offers a darker, heavier, and more emotionally devastating sonic experience—firmly cementing Unredeemer’s place among the rising elite of blackened thrash and death metal.

"SHAME" tells the story of a soldier stripped of meaning, marching toward oblivion with every bullet, betrayed by the very ideals he was told to kill for. Told through the haunting cadence of a grim children’s rhyme, the song evokes imagery of loss, futility, and bitter revelation. The lyrical themes dive deep into existential nihilism—rejecting blind patriotism, false saviors, and hollow redemption.

“Redemption was sold to you as a way to take responsibility from your hands—but why would you give it away? Reject redemption. Unredeem yourself.”

Musically, “SHAME” sees Unredeemer evolve their sound, delving further into the abyss. Downtuned guitars, blackened tremolo riffs, and crushing groove-laden rhythms collide to form a wall of fury. Echoes of Death , Carcass , and Morbid Angel can be heard, but the band’s sharpened edge aligns them with modern greats like Cattle Decapitation , Amon Amarth , and Goatwhore .

Unredeemer was originally formed in 2019 by guitarist Pekka Paasikivi and longtime friend Mika “Nisu” Niskala , quickly making waves in Helsinki's underground. Their previous works, including the 4-19-23 EP and the brutal full-length Word Become Flesh , earned praise for their seamless blend of death thrash and blackened fury.

Now with “SHAME,” the band has taken their darkest step yet—pushing their musical boundaries while reinforcing their core ethos of self-reliance, truth through chaos, and unredemption .
