LOST CIRCUS from Nashville / Tennessee are based on the classic metal of the 80s, which knew how to mix heaviness and melody. Mostly underrated because some found it too soft when the Thrash wave started, others too hard when Hair Metal flooded the good bands. Bands like LION, LEATHERWOLF or FIFTH ANGEL come to mind. The early DOKKEN had more success, but also quickly became more suitable for radio. LOST CIRCUS are more oriented towards the first three mentioned bands, without really sounding like them. This should rather serve as a musical orientation.

Singer Steve Libby is the first ace up his sleeve. A classic shouter with a lot of volume and a necessary variance in the vocal cords. There are again parallels to LION or FIFTH ANGEL, who also had highly talented singers in their ranks. Convincing with melodic power songs like the opener 'Broken Shadows' or 'She's A Fire'. But even a semi-ballad like 'Ashes in Rain' gets the proper drive and depth to convince with his singing.

However, with Bryan Blumer and Kenny Knight there is also a guitar duo available, which prepares the ground for the good Steve with the necessary exciting riffs, but can also offer one or the other decent solos. The rhythm section provides the necessary metallic heaviness for the songs.

This album was created in 2021. Timeless metal, as the saying goes, but not only on the wave of nostalgia, but - yes, exactly "timeless" - that means no dusty throwback to better times. 'I Just Wish' also has the necessary melodies to stay exciting. Not all songs are pure gems. 'Get Over Me' is more "modern" oriented, but I personally like it less. The heavy 'Scream' is much better and invites you to bang your head. The last song 'This Place Is Mad' can also shine again.

LOST CIRCUS are another band that shows taste in choosing their metallic work and orients themselves to the right role models. Nevertheless, of course, time has advanced. And with all the quality, especially the vocals, it's difficult to set decisive accents over the whole record. And you can't match the spirit of optimism of the great role models. But for the quality metaller highly recommended.
