Description
Students can find sources in seconds. Linking every claim to real evidence is the hard part. SourceTrail is an AI research learning platform for higher education that keeps each claim tied to its source. Full walkthrough 👇
Generic AI chat tools give students confident answers from outside the course material, with no way to check them. Instructors see the finished essay, but not how the argument was built. SourceTrail, designed by SoluLab, takes a different approach to AI for higher education.
In this walkthrough, a student works through a guided research task built on a curated source pack. They read sources side by side with their notes, highlight passages, and build a claim map where every claim links to evidence that supports, qualifies or contradicts it. The AI research guide asks questions and cites passages, but it only searches the assigned sources and can't edit claims or mark work. Before submission, an instructor-set rule checks that every claim has supporting evidence.
Instructors then review the essay beside the full research trail, so feedback targets reasoning and research skills, not just citation format. Claims students can check, and a learning trail instructors can see.
Note: this is a concept prototype. The university and people shown are fictional.
