What happens when a Weezer bassist predicts his own death on Twitter — down to the city, the hotel, and how he'd go — and then it actually comes true?
Mikey Welsh played bass on the Green Album, the record that relaunched Weezer and sold over a million copies. But behind the magazine covers and sold-out tours, he was falling apart — a complete nervous breakdown that ended with him waking up in a psychiatric ward.
He quit music, reinvented himself as a painter, and rebuilt his life. Then in 2011, he posted the tweet that would define him forever: "Dream I died in Chicago next weekend. Heart attack in my sleep."
He was in Chicago to watch his old bandmates play Riot Fest — the very thing he'd had to leave to save his life. On October 8th, he failed to check out of his hotel room. He was found unresponsive at 40 years old.
Weezer later wrote, "Our beautiful, creative, hilarious, and sweet friend had passed away at the very young age of 40."
The full story of Mikey Welsh's chilling prophecy — the full story is on the channel right now. Go watch it, guys.
