I can only guess what would drive someone to do that, when pain becomes stronger then happiness I guess sometimes people chose a way out. I'm sure though that Chris has inspired many artists, singers and people all the like. His voice was and is amazing. Some consider him to be the greatest rocksinger of all time. I believe he was among the top for sure, his power is unreal.. It might seem a bit of a strange choice to sing this song as a tribute to Chris, but I felt like this song captures all the essence of his amazing vocals, the dark, the light, the power, the silence it's all there. I remember when I first heard this song as was blown away.... I still am blown away. And in some way this song might explain some of the struggles he went trough.
