Description
#RealtyNXT | What can a 209-year-old company teach a startup? At India PropTech Demo Day 3rd Edition in Bengaluru, Sahyog Bharti Pandita, Managing Director, India & SAARC at Duravit, said the answer is to know what must never change and have the courage to change almost everything else.
Duravit began as a small earthenware factory in Germany in 1817 and set up its first India plant in 2010. By end of 2026, India’s WC and wash basin market is expected to reach roughly 101 million units, worth about ₹12,000 crore. The luxury segment is just 9.3% of volume but nearly 25% of value, so the opportunity is to win where design, experience and specification carry more weight.
His four principles for founders: protect the core, reinvent the edges, collaborate beyond yourself, and build for endurance. On sustainability, Duravit targets climate neutrality by 2045 and has invested in the world’s first electric ceramic kiln in Canada, expected to save about 9,000 tonnes of CO2 a year.
