Description
These sweeteners are not interchangeable. Xylitol and erythritol are sugar alcohols; allulose is a rare sugar. This quick comparison covers calories, direct blood-glucose effects, and practical trade-offs.
Sugar substitutes do not automatically make the whole product healthier. Check the ingredients and serving size. Sugar alcohols and allulose can cause digestive symptoms, depending on the amount and individual tolerance.
Heart-health questions remain for both erythritol and xylitol. Observational associations and clotting experiments warrant more research; they do not prove that a typical serving causes a heart attack. Xylitol is toxic to dogs.
