Description
If you’re wondering whether Kaiser Permanente works with Medigap plans, the short answer is: usually no—and here’s why it matters for you.
Kaiser Permanente operates as a closed network system, which means you typically need to use Kaiser doctors, hospitals, and services to get coverage. On the other hand, Medigap (Medicare Supplement) plans are designed to work with Original Medicare, allowing you to visit any doctor or hospital nationwide that accepts Medicare.
Because of this difference, Kaiser Permanente generally does NOT accept standard Medigap plans. Instead, Kaiser offers its own Medicare Advantage plans, which bundle your coverage into one system.
Many California hospitals and health care facilities are doing this. I would be alarmed.
