We’re thrilled to have the incredibly talented Lexie Boatright join us to review the Wren Deluxe Concertina, an affordable, beginner-friendly instrument that offers exceptional playability and tone. Lexie shares her own experience with the Wren, noting that many of her students already play on this model, thanks to its solid build, ease of play, and accessible price point. As she puts it, the Wren is a fantastic concertina to start with, and one that you can “learn an awful lot of tunes” on. The Wren Deluxe takes things a step further, featuring metal buttons with a non-stick design for even smoother, more responsive playing. It also boasts a premium finish, complete with raised wooden ends, countersunk screws, and upgraded leather hand-straps for added comfort and durability. Both models come with a free hard case included, making them a great choice for anyone beginning their concertina journey. To wrap things up, enjoy a beautiful hornpipe performance by Lexie, showcasing just how expressive these instruments can be, even at the entry level.
