He seemingly came from an incredibly musical family which no doubt put him on the path to becoming an accomplished musician. Every member of my family played a musical instrument. My dad played the piano and organ, my mom played flute and sang in a choir, and my sister played the piano as well. My parents are still singing in choirs all over fuckin’ Finland - Alexi Laiho It would actually be his sister that introduced him to Heavy Meta when he was just 7 years old. Alexi started playing the violin when he was 7 but he already had Hard Rock on his mind so it wasn’t very appealing to him.
