Emerald   is the studio-based metal project of rock and roll stalwarts   Jeff  Melin   and   Duane Hollis .
 
The new album is called   Requiem   and is an eight-song blast of Emerald’s brand of powerful old-school metal. The music is an homage to the early days of heavy music, a timeless sound that recalls 70s Black Sabbath and also touches on other highlights of that golden era.
 
Founded in Tucson, Arizona back in metal’s heyday of the mid-1980s, the group is back on the international music scene after a long hiatus with a new record and a revitalized career.
 
Melin and Hollis reconvenied Emerald with a vengeance in 2014 and the results speak for themselves.
The lineup of Melin on guitar and vocals, Hollis on bass and vocals, and Will Jones on drums has gotten considerable traction in the online world. Requiem is the group’s fourth album since 2014 and its music has received many positive reviews and consistent airplay on internet radio. This has allowed Emerald to build a fanbase not only in the USA but in places like Australia, Brazil, Poland, and Germany.
Much of Emerald’s genius lies in its decision not to modernize its influences. The band carries the torch of genre giants like Sabbath, Trouble, Judas Priest, Accept, and Iron Maiden and strives to attain the same kind of eternally relevant sound and not chase current trends. Requiem tracks like “Endless War” “Inescapable,” and “Out of the Light” display the wisdom of this creative choice and will instantly appeal to metal fans of all generations.

It turns out that the time away from the music scene has not dulled the appetites of hard rock fans for Lizzy Borden, as his new album, ‘My   Midnight   Things,’ has already left a deep impression on five different Billboard charts. These placings include #11 on Top New Artist Albums, #17 on Current Hard Music Albums, #43 on Top New Artist Albums Consumption, #46 on Independent Current Albums, and #148 on Top 200 Current Albums. Additionally, the album also made the Canadian charts - hitting #84 on Top Hard Music Charts.

Having signed a new contract with Metal Blade on the strength of three demo tracks, Borden opted to produce ‘My   Midnight   Things’ himself, with Joey Scott as co-producer, who also handled all the drumming duties. “I knew what I was going for and had doubts that I could find a producer who would understand that,” Borden explains. “My approach is very different than what is happening in today's current sound.”

One of the most spirited rockers today is undoubtedly singer/guitarist Jacob Cade, who’s seemingly never-ending energy has landed him opening slots with the likes of Steel Panther, Bobaflex, Winger, and Dokken. And now, Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger are on board the Jacob Cade train, as they helped write what will be the follow-up single to Jacob’s Top-40 charting debut, "What’s Your Problem?!"

 



The new track, "Icky Nikki," was produced and mixed by Michael Wagener, known for his work with Metallica, Motley Crue, Megadeth, Alice Cooper and many more rock legends. The song is about a toxic girl that was more or less built out of mine and Lzzy’s imagination with a little help from some of my own experiences. I can’t thank Lzzy and Joe enough for being so cool and willing to work with me!” 

 

Cade’s earlier single, “What’s Your Problem?!”, was a hit at rock radio, and was also produced by Michael Wagner, and was co-written with Skid Row bassist Rachel Bolan. Additionally, Cade has written material with former Winger guitarist, Paul Taylor, as well. 

 

Lastly, there is a simple reason why Cade feels his music stands out from the rest of the pack. “I believe it is different with what is coming out lately, and that's what makes it special and appealing.” As evidenced with the insanely catchy “Icky Nikki,” the fast-rising rocker is quickly making a name for himself with admirers of high energy, melodic rock n’ roll.

Richmond, Virginia-based rockers Red Reign are ready to unveil a brand new video, for one of the standout tracks from their self-titled EP - “Red Reign.”

“The song ‘Red Reign’ is about when a person is so pissed off and overwhelmed, that the anger is finally unleashed,” explains the band’s singer/guitarist, Carlton “Bubba”   McMichael (who is also joined in the band by guitarist Stevie Shred, bassist Larry Moore, and drummer Sammy Lee). "It was really great working with Tim, Monica and the whole team at Aisthesis Productions on this video as they were able to capture the bands attitude and stage presence. Decade Of The Eagle is a retrospective that spans the band’s first nine albums and represents the very best of the first decade of their astonishing career during which time they notched up five Top 40 albums and four Top 20 singles. These 4LP and 2CD deluxe editions feature new liner notes by frontman Biff Byford that document the decade and which are accompanied by rarely seen and classic photos from the era.
