California rockers Swirl have kicked off the new year with a new song called “The Lift” which has reached #1 on Indie rock radio in the US and #4 on Banks Radio Australia in just the first two weeks of 2018. “The Lift” comes to you fresh on the heels of a very successful 2017 campaign for the band`s 7 song EP titled ‘SWIRL’, of which the band has 3 songs featured in the award winning movie ‘Ditch Day’. This film stars Emmy Award winning actor Bill Oberst Jr. This film took home the “Best Feature Film” Award at the Burbank International Film Festival.( http://thefilmditch.com/music-artists/). The songs are “Rise Up”, We Are Alive” and “Spell”.
Since the release of their ‘SWIRL’ EP, Swirl the band has been the support act on several North American tours for many established rock artists including RATT, Extreme, Cinderella, Slaughter, LA Guns, Souls of We, Red Dragon Cartel, Skid Row and more or they have headlined shows in Southern California.
According to Swirl, the “Message” behind the music has to do with standing up for what you believe in – not giving up and going for what you want in the face of those who put road blocks in front of you, it’s staying the course, staying focused and not giving an inch in any other direction, but the road you have carved out for yourself. Sometimes you will fall down, sometimes you will lose your way, but in the end the only way to win is you have to get back on your feet, dust yourself off and carry on so are you ready to “Rise Up”? Indeed, this group has quite a determination and a sound that captures that emotion. With every song, there is a personal experience that backs it up. You can feel those stories right through to your very core.
With the release of “The Lift” press is now coming in from all over the globe. In addition to North America, there is a significant rise in global presence for Swirl in the form of reviews, interviews, airplay and “Band of the Day/ Week/ Month” honors. Japan, Greece, Germany, The Netherlands, Canada, France, The UK, Bangalore, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Scotland and more are all favorably picking up on the Swirl sound. Click here ( http://www.reverbnation.com/socalswirl/press/) or the “Global Press” button on the homepage of the Swirl official website to see what the buzz is all about!
Guitarist “DT” explains “After a successful first ever crowd funding campaign through the Swirl Go Fund Me page ( https://www.gofundme.com/launch-new-music-by-swirl-the-band) the band entered the Granted Records studios to track the first new song since the ‘SWIRL’ EP. The result of those sessions is the new song titled, “The Lift”. The story behind “The Lift” is as incredible as the story behind its creation. Both will be told in the coming months as “The Lift” is promoted”.
Founder member and Lead guitarist/Songwriter and vocalist of 80s Heavy Rock band Sacrilege. Now back writing again and working on new material. In the 80s we played many venues such as the old Marquee in Wardour St. London, also played on the David Jensen show with U2 and the Stranglers. From the TV appearance followed a UK tour of smaller venues finishing with that Marquee gig. We always had a stage show no matter whether it was a pub, club or festival. Fans might remember the real Long dry grass we had all around the stage, the cobwebs over the drum kit,the explosions, dry ice and 4x12 cabinets with crosses and smoke pouring out of them (not the norm for a small Pub Gig!!).
Stopped playing for about 25 years but now back writing and playing "live" again with three great musicians in Neil Turnbull, Jeff Rolland and Tony Vanner. See you very soon.
Heavy Rock Band with crunching Black Sabbath style riffs and 80s metal screaming guitar shredding solos.
Our Full Stage show includes Pyros, smoke, lasers and more.
In little over two years, the mysterious Luna 13 (Dr. Luna) has rapidly cemented himself onto the global Drum and Bass Map. Blasting onto the scene with his now classic debut 'Phantom Bass Queen’, Luna 13’s tracks have since received national support from the Dark Drum and Bass world and his last two releases debuted at number 1 in America, Greece and Germany
Known for their theatrical live show consisting of black masks and devil horns , Luna 13, Black Metal/Bass Music is one of the more unique and adventurous electronica metal outfits that emerged in 2012. Luna 13's forceful yet groove based electro-metal incorporates elements of electronica, black metal, and industrial rock. Luna 13 stands out due to their ability to cross over from Electronica to Metal without using any stringed instruments. Dr. Luna, the music of Luna 13 successfully created a new metal sound with synthesizers and distortion pedals by wrapping heavy distortion around sub-bass. Luna 13 has been performing live for a few years now, opening for death metal/industrial and electronica projects alike. Luna 13's last two releases debuted on the top 10 on the electro charts.
After Lilith Bathory joined Luna 13 in 2015, they have become a Hollywood CA local attraction -- the mesmerizing Burlesque and voice sampling of Lilith Bathory, garbed as Lilith herself and the serial killer image of Dr. Luna creates a vibe of domination and the occult. Winning two awards for the best Metal/Electronica project of 2015 and 2016, Luna 13 stands out for their brutal sound and the vibrant dance of Lilith Bathory, adding a strong live presence to a usually sub-par live genre of electro music. Signed to Cleopatra Records (Hypnotic), Luna 13 is forging a new genre of music they call Black Metal/Bass Music.
Diabology are a teenage thrash metal band from Los Angeles, CA. Members Jesse Bergen (guitar and vocals) Cassius Vian (guitar) Everett Babcock (bass) and Andrew Godinez (drums), met up on the rock school circuit. They were united by a love of metal and a desire to break out of the rock school mold start working on original material. Defying the many subgenres of metal, they choose to simply call their music thrash, a tribute to the old school sounds of the late eighties, with a young and refreshing voice.
The band already has a few successful and well attended gigs under their belt. They are planning to spend the next year increasing their following by booking more shows in the So Cal area, as well as recording an EP.
Scavenger, an oldschool Belgian heavy/speed metal band that released one album in 1985.
https://www.facebook.com/pg/Scavenger-1673520712956180
Check out this review from Metal Archives
I'm writing this review mainly as a response to author Martin Popoff's toss-off review of "Battlefields" in his for the most part excellent(except for a few reviews I vehemently disagree with such as his SCAVENGER-"Battlefields" write-up) and invaluable book The Collector's Gude To Heavy Metal Vol. 2: The Eighties". In the book, Popoff basically states that Belgium's SCAVENGER were little more than a Krokus wanna-be clan with minimal Metal to offer. Now, I don't know if Popoff ever really listened/examined SCAVENGER closely or maybe just gave them the old "one song" treatment, but SCAVENGER is sure as hell alot more than bottom of the barrel European Metal! First off, SCAVENGER-"Battlefields" LP (1984) has one of the best productions of any Mausoleum release. Second, the album was recorded in 1983 which is quite early for the aggressive form of melodic Euro-metal that SCAVENGER exemplifies. I mean these guys meant business! Their musicianship is excellent, drawing on all the pre-'83 Euro-Metal bases(Picture, Accept, Trance, Heavy Load, Viva, Torch, Bodine, Glory Bells Band, and the power & glory of the NWOBHM). SCAVENGER were a highly competent band but existed in a burgeoning and overcrowded European Metal scene. This reason, as well as seemingly minimal distribution of "Battlefields" (although maybe it just never made it to the USA), doomed SCAVENGER to the dustbin of Metal history. In this sense every time I listen to SCAVENGER I get kind of bummed out because there were just SO many killer European band from '81-'87 that just seem to have got lost in the shuffle. If ever there were a band that deserved a second look, it's SCAVENGER(and to be fair Saints' Anger and Underdog's "Rabies In Town" as well). Truly a killer album with great guitars, catchy but dark bleak/melodies, above average production, GREAT LP cover art, and a hidden weapon in a the vocal department blending just the right amount of Euro-accent with well-spoken Engish. Basically, if you LOVE the European Metal of the early/mid 1980's, SCAVENGER is a band you cannot overlook, even despite what Martin Popoff says...Afterall, SCAVENGER could devour any of today's so-called melodic/traditional bands in one old school bite.
Here's a small history of the band: Gravehuffer, formally KROM, started in August of 2008. Three of us, Mike, Larry & Ritchie, were originally together in a crust-punk band called Initial Detonation. Our singer, James, was in a band called H.R.B. Initial Detonation released two 7” records & did 2 tours. We were in a van for one three week tour and one six week tour of the east coast & mid-west in the mid & late nineties. Mike, Larry and James got together and formed Aether Bunny. Ritchie was contacted after Aether Bunny disbanded, and we formed KROM, which went in a in a more metal direction. Our sound has been described as N.W.O.B.H.M. meets early Earache Records. Our local scene is pretty varied, but not many bands are playing fast songs. We didn’t initially set out to be different, but it has definitely turned out that way. It is something we are coming to realize the more shows we play. We feel we have the metal philosophy down pat. To quote Rob Halford, we’re loud, we smell, and we’re offensive to some people. We are fairly prolific songwriters as well. We have 28 original songs that are total face rippers, ranging from fast grind-core style songs to down-tuned sludgy doom, with a shitty attitude of course. Our new album is called 'Your Fault', and is out now on CD/cassette/digital download on Reality Impaired Recordings. We hope to release it on vinyl later in the year.
Congrats to Gravehuffer for crushing the battle of the bands on Metal Devastation Radio
The modern history of the band goes back to late 2013 when guitarist and singer were replaced. Jozef Daras (ex-Xibalba) joined the band as a guitarist and Bohus Michalko (ex-Stone Cold Bitch, ex-Eternity) stood before the microphone. Thus the music got new drive, the classic thrash was enriched with hardcore and even metalcore. New songs were recorded and new EP album „Right now“ was released in March 2014. In June 2014, Jaro Zajac was replaced with Miro Szeman (ex-Xibalba, ex-The Weed). The band active giving concerts in clubs and on festivals at home and abroad. In 2015 the band prepared a debut album "Slave to the System" which released by Sliptrick Records in november 2015.At the end of the year 2105 left the band Jozef Daras. We've already supported such bands as Sepultura, Decapitated, E-Force, S.D.I., Obscure Sphinx, JINJER, etc...
